We are about to get our first real taste of cold air. There is a Frost Advisory in effect overnight tonight in some areas and a Freeze Warning in effect in the Poconos. Tonight will be a cold night, but it is just a taste of things to come.
Temperatures will rebound during the day and reach to near 60 by days end Monday. Monday night will not be nearly as cold as a storm system will move toward the area. That storm will bring a few showers to the region during the morning hours on Tuesday and will help temperatures to bump up into the mid to upper 60s. Then the cold air really sets in. I think we could see near freezing temperatures in many of our suburbs overnight Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday! It will also be cold during the day. On Wednesday we should see plenty of sunshine but it will stay chilly with a high in the mid to upper 50s. That will be about ten degrees below normal. Thursday may be the coldest day of the week. Temperatures on Thursday may not get out of the 40s in many areas and may only climb to near 50 in the city. There also looks to be a good chance of rain later in the day and that would make it just miserable. That rain will come from a potent storm moving out of the southern plains.
We will have to really watch that next storm on Thursday and Friday. A few of the models are strengthening the storm and making it into a strong Nor'easter during the day on Friday. If that does happen, then we could see heavy rain and gusty winds all day Friday. Highs will once again be in the upper 40s in some areas to lower 50s in the city. If the storm moves farther inland, then it would be warmer with less wind, but again this will really be one to watch as there is still plenty of time for that forecast to change!
Stay tuned, I will be staying on top of this forecast for you. If you have plans later this week, stay tuned!
