When the story broke Tuesday night that Dallas Police Officer Senior Corporal Norm Smith was shot while serving an arrest warrant, many of you were glued to the screen, along with those of us reporting it, waiting to hear if he would pull through.
We all watched as fellow officers flocked to Baylor Medical Center. We were deeply moved by their expressions of fear and compassion. And sadly, we were ultimately forced to report that Smith had indeed died of his injuries.
Many of you have asked how you can help the Smith family. A memorial fund has been established for the fallen officer. Donations can be made at any City Credit Union branch. Find a location near you and ask about the Norman S. Smith Memorial Fund.
In addition to the memorial fund set up in his honor, we wanted to give you the opportunity to send words of encouragement and support to the people who have loved Senior Corporal Norm Smith. Please, take a moment to send your messages of sympathy below, and we will make sure the Smith family receives them.
Sincerely,
~ Tracy Kornet
