Neil Donnelly has spent 30 years in the South Lake neighborhood in Hollywood. That's the area south of Hollywood Boulevard one block east of Federal Highway.
He says it's an area where kids love to play outside and run around. He told me after the armed robbery on Sunday night he and other neighbors won't let their kids play outside at night any more without supervision.

Worse, he says, his longtime neighbor took a bullet in the shoulder just for walking outside his house. That neighbor took a bullet when he happened on that armed robbery.
"He's the finest kind of neighbor and person you'd want to meet," Donnelly said. "It's very unfortunate he got harmed." Fortunately, the neighbor is expected to be ok.
Hollywood police tell me they have not seen a spike in crimes in this area. But residents remain concerned especially after someone beat Wolf St. James to death outside his house back in September.

St. James was emptying his garbage when someone beat him in the head and robbed him. That crime happened just blocks away from Sunday's armed robbery and shooting.
Hollywood police do have an interesting piece of software to allow residents to search their area for crime activity.
They have a Crime View software program accessible through their website. We searched a one mile radius around the area where the crime occurred Sunday night. We could only search for the past 30 days.
The search revealed:
15 Residential Burglaries
6 Stolen Cars
3 Car Burglaries
1 Business Burglary
Several acts of Vandalism
