Hey OMGers...

I have a quick new post... after such a long time being away from this blog.

I was lucky enough to attend the "So Long Springfield" party for the now canceled soap "Guiding Light" over the weekend. The event was amazing. I loved hearing from all the actors, seeing so many fans show up & my highlight was meeting Josh & Shayne (GL great Robert Newman & his on-screen son Jeff Branson)!

The party was such an amazing idea to help loyal fans bid a final farewell to 72 amazing, record-setting years of living life alongside GL's great characters.

I'll always remember coming home from school everyday around 3 p.m. and my mom turning on "Guiding Light." Watching the beloved characters like Reva, Josh, Jonathan, Shayne, Lizzie, Marina, Dinah, Roger, Holly, Hart, Frank, Cassie, Prince Richard, Danny, Michelle, Gus, Harley, Alan, Phillip, Beth, Lucy, Alan-Michael, Alexandra, Dr. Rick, Ross, Blake & the list goes on and on was always an hour escape from the day (before I started my homework!). And now it's gone completely... how do you say goodbye to 72 years?

It is very difficult... I watched, my mom watched and my grandma tuned in before her! So, from this fan: "Guiding Light" is and will always be sorely missed!

If you miss "Guiding Light" too, check out my pictures from the "So Long Springfield" event.

Finally, here's to always remembering "Guiding Light" ... I found this clip on YouTube of the opening sequence.

More later...

-- The Material Mom won't be again ... at least not right now anyway. A Malawian judge ruled that Madonna won't be allowed to adopt a 2nd child from the country on a requirement, but Madonna is not ready to take no for an answer. There are reports now that she's going to appeal.

Read more on the initial ruling here.

-- Meantime, Sasha Baron Cohen is at it again. This time he's trading in his "Borat" identity for "Bruno" ... Well, I'm sure you've heard about this character by now, so just watch!!

Britney's Circus In The 'Burgh

Hey OMGers...

It's Britney Spears day in Pittsburgh. The pop star's "Circus" tour rolled into town this week for a concert tonight at Mellon Arena. And anywhere Britney goes, it seems like controversy & drama are bound to follow...

First of all, check out these links about the kick off of the tour earlier this month: "Spears Returns" & EW.com coverage.

Moving on, after arriving here in Pittsburgh, it seems 2 roadies working on the tour found themselves behind the bars of the Allegheny County Jail after an apparent scuffle involving local police on the South Side. Read more here

Check out Britney's blog/statement condemning the incident.

And this story's just been everywhere: E! Online ... People Magazine ... CBS News ... The Huffington Post ... The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ... The Los Angeles Times ... TMZ ... MTV ...... well we think you get the idea!

Meantime, if you can't get enough Britney ... here's a link to her own website!

And finally, I just had to post this interview...

KDKA-TV Sports caught up with some of the Penguins in the locker room after their practice, which was moved from The Igloo to Southpointe today because of the concert! The team's getting ready for a big game Saturday afternoon against the New York Rangers.

Now, when asked if they planned on being in attendance at the concert, interim head coach Dan Bylsma & captain Sidney Crosby both said no ... ... But Pens goalie Marc-Andre Fleury (my favorite Penguin! ... yes, I've admitted it before & I'll say it again, I have a big crush on this guy!) said he planned on going to Brit's concert tonight ... but not staying too late of course ... he's got a big game Saturday! And, get this, he says this concert will be his very first one!

Check it out MAF's interview here!

And if you're interested ... here's Crosby's interview (the concert is mentioned at the very beginning) & Byslma's interview (the concert is mentioned at the very end).

That's all for now ... & by the way ...... GO PENS!!

My best,

Heather

Experts On Richardson's Death

Posted by hlang84
(Andrew H. Walker/Getty Images)

Hey out there OMGers...

There's an update in the tragic death of Natasha Richardson today.

Medical experts in Montreal are now saying the lack of a medical helicopter to transport trauma patients for treatment quickly may just have played a role in the actress' case.

This is a quote from a medical official that appeared in an AP report: "It's impossible for me to comment specifically about her case, but what I could say is ... driving to Mont Tremblant from the city (Montreal) is a 2 1/2-hour trip, and the closest trauma center is in the city. Our system isn't set up for traumas and doesn't match what's available in other Canadian cities, let alone in the States," said Tarek Razek, director of trauma services for the McGill University Health Centre, which represents six of Montreal's hospitals.

I'll be back with more later... Go Pens & Pitt!!

Hello OMGers...

It's a day of mourning in the entertainment world as tributes and rememberances of Tony Award-winning actress Natasha Richardson begin to pour in following her death. A spokesperson confirmed her death Wednesday, just days after she was in a skiing accident.

Here are some links about her life and career:

Read the obituary.

And here's more as she is being remembered.

This is a link to E! Online ... & this is how Richardson's "The Parent Trap" co-star Lindsay Lohan is remembering her once on-screen mother.

People Magazine online has posted some photos from her life.

And Entertainment Weekly has more on some of Richardson's best on-screen performances.

I'll be back with more later...

My best,

Heather
